Discovery4 is the result of further development of the popular Discovery3. The new wing, like its predecessor, is suited for those pilots who finished paragliding school and have at least 20 hours of flying time. The paraglider has good aerodynamic characteristics along with high safety, which enables it to be used for recreational flying. Discovery-4-27 is EN "B" certified.
Top surface of the glider is now made from Skytex 9092 E85A, weight of the glider was reduced to from 6.4 to 5.9 kg for 27 size, take off became easier, especially in zero-wind conditions with paramotor. Risers are shorter - now it's easier for the pilot to make B-stall and "big ears". They are made from new, more rigid 20 mm zero stretch polyester webbing, which is more convenient to use. Brake handles are now equipped with swivels. Discovery 4 has the risers scheme A2/A'1/B4/C2/D2 пїЅ it provides better behavior of the glider on front collapses with accelerator. Accelerator allows to fly at maximum speed of about 54 km/h, Discovery 4 is very stable and rigid at that speed. You can also order special paramotor risers equipped with trimmers.
Advanced construction
Compared with Discovery 3, total lines length decreased from 343 to 288 meters for 27size, line diameter was reduced to 0.95 mm on the upper cascade, aspect ratio has grown from 5.3 to 5.37, as a result Discovery-4 flies with much better glide angle. We also reduced total height of the glider in order to make handling more precise.
We decided to avoid the use of plastic rods on leading edge, because, according to our experience, gliders with those rods have a tendency to make "cravats" after collapses; such behaviour isn't good for an afterschool wing.
Safety first
Discovery 4 has two sizes certified - 27 and 29 (EN B). At a moment we are preparing certification of one more size.
